Gary Smith Men’s Soccer Tournament
Gary Smith is a legend at St. Joseph’s Long Island Campus. A Suffolk County soccer pioneer and Golden Eagles Athletic Hall of Famer, Coach Smith spent 26 years at SJC before his retirement in 2011. Revered as “the dean of the coaching staff,” he established the men’s soccer program in 1986 and the women’s softball program in 1988. Coach Smith inspired thousands during his tenure, from those he mentored on the field to the many he inspired to pursue coaching themselves.
To commemorate his illustrious career as an icon in Long Island athletics, St. Joseph’s College is establishing the Gary Smith Men’s Soccer Tournament. Our first annual event will be held in fall 2013 at our brand new Long Island athletic complex. The four-team tournament will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the new facility as we share our home turf with the best regional soccer teams in the area.
Your contributions are critical to the success of this event. Please help us immortalize Coach Smith by making a donation today.
